Breadsticks

                                                                                                                       Makes 12

1 Cup warm water
1 tbs. yeast
2 tbs. sugar
2 tbs. powder milk oppt.  (it just gives the breadstick a richer flavor)
2 tbs. oil, I like to use olive oil
1 egg
1 tsp. salt
21/2-3 c. flour
4 tbs. melted butter
Parmesan Cheese
Garlic salt
Dill weed

Place egg in very warm water and let sit until you need it.   In mixer place warm water, yeast, sugar, and powder milk, then mix just briefly.  You just want to make sure the yeast in mixed in with the water and sugar.  Let rest five minutes.  Add in egg, salt, oil and the 2 ½ cup flour, and then mix. Add a little flour at a time until the dough come clean from the bowl of the mixer.  Mix for five minutes.

The dough needs to rest 15 minutes.  What I like to do is spray a section of my counter with cooking spray, turn out my dough on that spot, spray my kitchen aide bowl with cooking spray and place it over the dough.

Roll dough out, I usually just spray my counter with cooking spray and roll out my dough.  Roll the dough into a rectangle roughly 11 x 13 inches and ¼ inch thick.  Cut the dough the long way in about 1/2- 3/4 inch strips (12 equal strips).

To shape bread stick
Stretch the dough strip, until almost double its size, fold in half.  Twist bread stick by twisting the end in opposite directions until its twised kind of tight.  Bring the two ends together, the breadstick twist up and pinch the two ends together.

Place on a greased cookie sheet, parchment paper or a silicone baking mat. Let rise for at least 30 minutes, or unil doubled in size. You will want to leave 1-1/2 inches between each breadstick.

You can make these breadsticks a head of time- cover breadsticks with plastic wrap that has been sprayed with cooking spray and let raise in the fridge for 2- 3 hours.  Pull breadsticks out of fridge and let warm on the counter 30 minutes, then bake.

Bake at 375 10-15 minutes.  You just want the breadsticks to be starting to brown.  Brush breadsticks with melted butter and sprinkle with parmesan cheese, garlic salt, and dill weed.

Food For Thought:The eternal nature of our body and our spirit is a question often pondered by those who live in mortality. All people who will ever live on earth are members of a human family and are eternal children of God, our loving Heavenly Father. After birth and tasting of death in mortality, all will be resurrected because of the Atonement of Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God the Father. Depending on our individual obedience to the laws, ordinances, and commandments of God, each mortal can have the blessing of attaining eternal life; that is, returning to live in the presence of their Heavenly Father and His Son, Jesus Christ, having eternal increase for all the eternities to come. Through making and keeping the sacred covenants found in the temple ordinances, individuals can return to the presence of God and will be reunited with their families eternally. Elder Robert D Hales, The Eternal Family
